Good Games, Mario Party 8’s Great Boards

With the recent release of Mario Party 10 we looked back at Mario Party 8.

Mario Party 8, being way later in the Mario Party series, is a mixed bag of everything seen in the previous classic games. Although some of the mini-games tried to shoehorn motion controls that were less than stellar, the boards truly shined through as some of the more unique in the series!

1.  DK’s Treetop Temple: This was your basic board, run to the randomly placed star, pay 20 coins to buy one, classic video games.

              2.  Goomba’s Booty Boardwalk: Why do all Mario Games use Goombas in weird settings, pirates? Really? Anyways, race to the top to get the free star. You can spend money to get boosted to the star before your opponents and the price is based on how far back you are!

      3.   King Boo’s Haunted Hideaway: Find king boo, get the star, the rooms are randomly placed, and there’s multiple paths to potentially find the star. Dead ends revert you back to the start.

4.  Shy Guy’s Perplex Express: Similar to Booty Boardwalk, but the stars aren’t free, Normal conductor: 20 coins, DK: Free, Bowser: Lose a star. Play smart, who knows who’ll be there when you get to the star.

5.       Koopa’s Tycoon Town: You don’t buy stars; you pay coins to invest in  buildings. Whoever has the most money in a building holds the star until another player passes them. When enough money is put in the building may end up being worth more stars too! Reminds me of those old tycoon games.

 6.       Bowser’s Warped Orbit: You start with 5 stars, fight to steal, and claw more stars from others!

What was your favorite stage in Mario Party 8?
