My Journey through Twilight Princess

I was never the biggest Zelda fan, I had played Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, but couldn't get into them, it wasn't until I got Twilight Princess for the Nintendo Wii, when it was the new Zelda game at the time, had I really got hooked on the series.

I had started playing it, the controls were good, they didn't reach for much, and the aiming was good, of all Nintendo Wii games, this game felt the best to play.
Twilight Princess Link was easy to associate with, almost more so than other titles in the series. The character of Ilia was a nice addition, typical childhood friend, and although her arc doesn’t play a huge role, it kept me interested. She was innocent, she talked a lot of the past, and although it happens before the events of the game and I didn't experience them personally, they felt believable and brought us into the story.
It was a new way of experiencing a Zelda game, it wasn't about just defeating Ganon, he was a part of the problem, but saving Ilia was a driving point of wanting to beat the game. She didn't come off as a damsel in distress, she was your friend, and she was often lumped into a group you needed to save, so you didn't feel like she was just a love interest. She felt like she was involved in the story, despite being defenseless.
To this day, Ilia’s theme hits my emotions, it’s got that sense of an emotional connection, she was a friend, and I felt connected to her, even as the player. She made the experience worth it, and I will always say it’s my favorite Zelda game because of her.

Are there other characters like this for you? Who are they and why?
